About James

James Thorne is a freelance photographer working with both professional digital techniques and traditional methods. His work focus’ predominantly on a Fine Art Reportage style, although he does enjoy other types and styles of photography.

James takes a great deal of pride in trying to capture and produce an image that could be hung on the wall as art, and emote a positive feeling in the viewer for a reason they possibly can't explain. Or simply produce a photograph that he finds beautiful and interesting, and which hopefully another viewer would be moved to purchase. Additionally, producing a photograph that supports, informs or guides the viewer in some way, is very fulfilling.

There are a few pictures showcased on Dotty Gallery that are taken from the “Beautiful Dead Series”. This is an ongoing project photographing dead animals that James encounters in and around the area he lives. The animals that are photographed are ones which even though dead still very much show their beauty. The idea isn’t necessarily to shock viewers, simply to show that death is very much part of life, isn’t something to shy away from, and does not take the beauty away from these animals.

He has achieved a BTEC Foundation in Art & Design, and an HND in Photography & Digital Imaging. In 2004 setup as a Self Employed Photographer. Taking commissions in portraiture, product, interior, architecture, events, and boudoir photography.

His work has featured in the Cornwall Today magazine - Ross Gazette newspaper - international online art publications Blur and F-Stop.

James had work exhibited in Parkfield’s Gallery (Ross-on-Wye), Claire Galleries (Birmingham), The Center for Fine Art Photography (Colorado, USA), and Blur Magazine’s Group Exhibition (Zagreb, Croatia).
